This year, 2020, will be a different type of walk. Although it will still be at the Paw Sox stadiium, it will be a drive by with cars of team members decorated/naming the team. Details are still being worked on, but there will still be a stage and announcements, etc. One goal this year is to help those with ALS to communicate using technology because of the restrictions during this Covid19 crisis. The amazing RI Chapter provides so much help for the daily living needs of local ALS patients. This year the walk takes places on Sept.13, two days after the two year anniversary of Bob's death. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive, fatal neuromuscular disease that slowly robs the body of its ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The life expectancy of a person with ALS averages 2 to 5 years from the time of diagnosis.
Every 90 minutes a person in this country is diagnosed with ALS and every 90 minutes another person will lose their battle against this disease. ALS occurs throughout the world with no racial, ethnic, or socioeconomic boundaries.
